Stress Points Inspection in garments

Stress points inspection is to find out what areas should be reinforced with bar-tacking stitches or other ways in a garment and whether this has been properly done in a garment .It means the inspection to the stress points in a garment and whether they are all properly bar-tacked or reinforced with extra stitches.

Stress points are the areas of a garment where normal wear will cause strain on the seams or fasteners. On a pair of jeans, for example, stress points are on pockets, zippers, crotch seams, button holes, and belt loops.

All stress points, such as zipper, pockets, straps, beltloops, drawing string, crotch seams, buttons holes etc., must be bar-tacked and /or reinforced as necessary.

Bar tack stitches, in principal, are the more the better. However, on some particular fabric, too many stitches will damage the fabric. In this case, bar-tacking stitches should be less or taking place by other reinforcing stitches.
