Garments Accessories Inspection should know what Garments Accessories include first.
Garments Accessories definition is sometimes confused with trims. Basically there are two types of opinions. One of the definition is, the materials those are used in fashion industry to make a garment look nice for sale and packing other than fabrics and trims are called garments accessories. In this opinion it is defined that the materials which are not attached with the body of garments by sewing, only used for garments finishing and packing (decorative purposes) are termed as accessories. The main difference between trims and accessories is, trims are used as functional purposes and accessories are used as decorative purposes.
While the other definition is, all other materials except fabric which are used to make apparel are called accessories. Accessories are categorized as sewing accessories and finishing accessories. Sewing accessories are those which are used in sewing section. The accessories which are used in sewing section also called as trims. Finishing accessories are those which used in finishing section after sewing.
So the former opinion thinks, garments are composed of
1. fabrics
2. trimmings
3. and accessories.
The later opinion thinks, garments are composed of
1. fabrics
2. and accessories(sewing accessories-trims, finishing accessories)
Either you take which opinions, garments accessories are the second important materials after fabric. But the garments accessories inspection is not second important as any accessories quality impacts the garments quality level. They play a vital role in garments quality. If accessories are not suit with the finished cloth then all will be spoiled. It needs to be careful to inspect their quality. A single fault could be causing of rejection of garments. All the accessories which use for making a garment should be qualified for use. Quality control section should be careful during the inspection.
Additional Garments Accessories Inspection
- Must be suitable for the material/ product/ treatment and wash
- Must be correctly positioned, according to instructions or specification
- Must be colourfast
- Must not damage the product when attached
- Must be attached with a pin tag/ stitches if loose, e.g. belt, decorations
